Elaine worked in the health care field (Beth Israel, Children’s
Hospital & New England Medical Center) for over 20 years as a medical
technologist specializing in hematology and oncology before being trained
as an acupuncturist. She has worked with both pediatric and adult cancer
patients in a clinical setting. While working with hemophilia patients
and their families, she participated in published medical research and
the training of Harvard Medical students and residents. She has also taught
coagulation and hematology to technologists through seminars at national
professional meetings. Elaine is particularly interested in the partnership
between western medicine and acupuncture as part of a new medical paradigm.
She holds an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Lesley
College. She has counseled children and battered women, using both traditional
and creative movement modalities. Elaine’s training in holistic medicine
includes Reiki, Feldenkrais Technique, creative movement therapy, and acupressure
massage.
A graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture,
Elaine has treated a wide range of patients including those suffering
from chronic pain and fatigue, infertility, stress, arthritis, depression,
asthma, rheumatoid disorders, and pediatric treatment with needle free
acupuncture. She earned her Master of Acupuncture and is licensed by
the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. She is also certified
by the National Association of Detox Acupuncturists (NADA).
Additionally,
Elaine trained in Laser Acupuncture with Dr. Margaret Naeser and has
used laser acupuncture in her practice for the last nine years. She designed
and conducted a clinical trial using laser acupuncture for the treatment
of carpal tunnel syndrome. Elaine is an active member of the North American
Association for Laser Therapy and a founding member of the American Society
for Laser Acupuncture Therapy. Elaine teaches
laser acupuncture and light therapy at New England School of Acupuncture.
